<p>Ernst Haeckel was a German zoologist, naturalist and marine biologist. The published artwork of Haeckel includes over 100 detailed, multicolour illustrations of animals and sea creatures.</p>

There are about 175 described species. Some siphonophores are the longest animals in the world, and specimens as long as 40 meters have been found.</span></p>
