 Map of Brighton, 1851. This map was drawn & engraved by John Rapkin for The Illustrated Atlas and Modern History of the World published by John Tallis. A rare and highly decorative map showing the Town Plan of the City of Brighton. Exceptional detail of the central streets, showing pictures of The Chain Pier, The Old Steine and The Pavilion, and Railway Station.

Map of Warwickshire. The map shows towns, cities, roads, county estates, Roman ruins, some topography, and more. 

With part of South Warwickshire, the broad valley of the River Avon, to the left off the map with the county town, shown at middle left along the riverbank. 

It was published in Cary’s New and Correct Atlas.

John Tallis (1817-1876) was a British map publisher. Born in the Midlands, Tallis came to London in the 1840s and began his London career with a series of remarkable London street views.

A 18th century map of Leicestershire, which appeared in John Cary’s New & Correct English Atlas (London: J. Cary, 1787/1788).

John Cary (c.1754-1835) is one of the greatest names in British cartography, as his maps are unsurpassed for their quality, craftsmanship and detail.
